Will we reach interstellar travel?

Obviously we can't break the speed of light. But there are theories that you can put a spaceship in a sort of bubble and travel at near light speed or other theories that would allow for travelling light years, but is it really conceivable? I mean, a thousand years ago, man would never dream that we would be this advanced, but is there a limit? Will we be able to do pretty much anything, like reach distant planets, or will we reach a plateau, limited by the physics of the universe?
