Opposites attract?

I am currently ually involved with a guy i used to work with. We are both 23. But we differ in many ways(ie economically, socially, race, and education) . He's used to being around losers from his beach area but I am more refined than him. I am starting to care about him though he is not on my level. He often talks to me about all of his indiscretions like how he wants to get out of his situation, success, his past (including things you shouldn't tell someone you're sleeping with). He has the personality of a sales person with the look of a teenage heartthrob. I have been around many successful people and I wanna bring him for the ride that I am going on. The major problem is he smokes weed damn near everyday, has a fear of failure, naive and does other girls. But he is a major sweetheart by always cover me with anything we do and always respecting me. Should I still try to be the only positive influence in his life or should I leave the "trash" behind?
